Have you had a Display Screen Equipment assessment completed?

Research suggests that prolonged use of computer workstations and display screen equipment (DSE) can lead to neck, shoulder, back or arm pain, along with stress, fatigue and temporary eyestrain. (https://www.hsl.gov.uk/dse-assessments-and-healthy-working).

Everyone who sits or stands at a desk should have an assessment to check that the set- up is suitable for you. Sometimes as the employee you need to request this when you start a new job or returning to work from an injury.

Tips: Every few hours you are sat down take a few minutes to wiggle your toes under your desk and push the balls of your feet into the floor (No one will know you are doing this!). This will help aid the lymphatic system and reduce stiffness and swelling around the ankles. Even better move the printer to the opposite side of the room so every time you print a document you need to move off your seat and stretch. This will greatly improve your posture!

Why can massage help those that are sedentary in their lifestyles?

Mental health is a massive topic and a working environment is top of the list when it comes to stress, not only physical stress on the body especially neck, shoulders and backs but also mental stress due to the number of hours we work and different shift patterns for some. A deep tissue massage can help your body produce ‘Happy’ chemicals, for example oxytocin and serotonin to increase relaxation and improve your mood.

Heads up as from 1st April there will be an increase in treatment prices. I am away in London week beginning 8th April, as part of my degree I am required to complete 200 hours this academic year.

I have booked a refresher for my first aid training that is required every three years, so, there is no clinic on Tuesday 26th March at Milford- On- Sea.

Fingers and toes crossed for a lovely spring this year and no snow! If you have any questions relating to this blog or if you are unsure if #NFSM can help you please send an email to [email protected] or call 07824876884

Look forward to seeing you soon.
